ALONA PALM RESORT – PANGLAO ISLAND
One of the most excellent resorts in this country, and a favourite of Mike’s for 6 years, is this private resort on Alona Beach, Panglao, off the main island of Bohol.
Huge villas, instead of cottages, surround one of the biggest swimming pools in the Philippines, complete with a sunken bar and WIRELESS INTERNET AT THE BAR…..HURRRRRAAAAHHHHHH!!
Swiss owned, Marcel, with long time friend and Chef, Ulli, this resort is the epitome of fine dining and five star comfort in the islands, surrounded by locals all doing their best, but coming nowhere near!!
Unfortunately we couldn’t stay here due to our repairs and late departure from Cebu, but we all spent the afternoon and evening enjoying this place. It’s the only resort on the beach with its’ own palm forest across the pathway, instead of someone else’s bar or resort. The view from the pool toward the beach/sea is excellent and the ambience is relaxed and cool. Staff are very polite and attentive, but not obtrusive.. Mayen, the manager was most helpful and took care of us – the dinner really was wonderful.
This is not the cheapest resort around but I believed there are only 12 villas and they are huge and private with manicured gardens and pathways meandering through to the rooms.
