2008 TRANS SIBERIA May 2008: The Rolls Royce Adventure has been temorarily postponed due to challenges financing the trip. TM is in Sweden during the summer of 2008 trying to find a solution to the challenge. We will post an update as we get more info.
Anybody feel like joining us for a jaunt across the Russian Steppes in a Rolls Royce? The idea is to use a 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II to be the first to drive such a vehicle, solo, (without back-up), from London to Mongolia, and hopefully to Beijing. The ‘adventure’ will begin in the first week of June 2008 and will end around the beginning of September the same year. The route will involve the following countries:-UK, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Mongolia, China. I will be travelling with an experienced lady traveller who has already decided she would like to do the entire trip from start to finish. Most excellent person! What we are now looking for is like minded adventurers to join us for different legs (as we did with the 2007 Boat Trip) or for longer sections, such as:- Siberia, around Lake Baikal and through Mongolia, where international airports are few and far between. Maximum additional passengers will be two/three persons. The plan is to do the return trip back to UK if it proves too difficult/expensive to take a foreign registered car into China, as seems to be the case. In this eventuality, seats will be open for outward and return routes. |
